Home Solar Power

There are a wide range of home solar power technologies that are easy to install and can help you lower your energy bills each month.

All of these technologies have matured to the point where they are reliable, flexible and easy to install on the average home.

Generate Your Own Electricity to Save Money

The most common use of home solar power is for the generation of electricity from the sun. These solar power systems do a great job of lowering you energy bill each month by replacing the power you now buy from the local power utility with power from reliable solar panels.

These systems have improved in recent years to the point where they can easily generate all of the power you will ever need to supply your home with fewer panels than ever before. They also allow you to easily expand the system over time to accommodate your budget.

Several of these systems even allow you to incorporate a wind power solution in with their connection and conversion equipment to help you generate even more power during the evenings.

Many homeowners install one of these home solar power systems to supply a small portion of their energy needs and grow it over time to eliminate their electrical bill completely.

In some areas you can even generate an excess of power above what you are using and sell this back the power company for a profit. This varies from region to region so it’s best to check before building your system too large.

Solar Power for Home Water Heating

Another great use for home solar power is heating the water you use. There are very affordable systems that you can install to help you heat the water you need for bathing and cooking with the power of the sun. These systems are small and have few moving parts, which makes them very reliable. They can easily supply all the hot water your home will ever need for free as long as the sun is shinning.

A basic system starts with a solar collector that is mounted on your roof. This solar collector has a webbing of small tubes running through it that are connected to your home’s water supply. As the water is passed through the collector it is heated by the sun and returned to the home for use.

Some of these systems have a thermal storage tank that is used to hold the water for later use. This type of solar thermal heating is known as a direct system since the same water you will be using in your house is passed through the system.

If you live in colder climates you will need to use an indirect system that uses a special fluid that won’t freeze that is circulated through the collector to be heated. This heat is then transferred to the water in your home indirectly.

A very similar use of home solar power can be applied to heating your pool with the power of the sun. This type of system uses a series of solar collectors and the circulating pump from the pool forces the water through these solar collectors to be heated by the sun. This warm water is then sent back to the pool until it reached the desired temperature.

But these are only a few examples of how home solar power can be used to help you save money. And because it is a renewable energy source, it helps the planet and the fight against global warming.
