How to Make Solar Panels
Hi everyone!
My name is Mike Mitchell and I have put this website together to help anyone and everyone who is interested in learning how to make solar panels that can help save you a lot of money while helping to fight global warming at the same time. It is a great win-win situation for all.
I am an Electrical Engineer by profession and have spent a big part of my career working for an atmospheric and weather research company. So it is easy to see where I get much of my interest and experience in wind and solar power.
Take a look around and you will find plenty of useful information from simple do it yourself solar power science projects to how to build and install homemade solar panels.
There is information for people on all levels whether you are a complete beginner or more of an expert, like myself. I hope you enjoy saving money and the environment as much as I do!
And if you are looking for a complete step-by-step guide that will take you from start to finish, then I highly recommend you check out this guide:

How to Make Solar Panels
Solar panels are a great way to lower your power bill while supporting the earth and environment all at the same time.
These panels utilize what is called Photovoltaic (PV) technology. This technology uses solar cells to absorb the energy directly from the sun and convert it into electricity.
If you are interested in learning how to make solar panels, then it is important to first understand how a solar power system and the related components work.
Solar Cells
To learn how to make solar panels, you will need to begin with the solar cells themselves. These solar cells are easily cut down to the size that you want and then strung together in series with many other solar cells of the same size.
Protection of these cells from weather and physical trauma is important to the efficiency of your panels. That is why additional protective materials are packaged with the solar cells. With this project, you will want to purchase direct current (DC) solar cells that produce 3 amps (A) at 0.5 volts (V).
Solar Panel Housing
Your local hardware store typically knows how to make solar panels and carries pre-made panel housings. If you supply them with the size of your solar cells and the size you want your solar panel, a sales person will be able to help you choose the right one.
For starters, I suggest that you make a solar panel with 36 solar cells since you will be using 0.5 volt cells. This way your panel will produce a total of 18 volts. You will have the option of using either a plexiglass or glass top. For this project, go with the plexiglass as the glass tops are often too fragile and break easily.
Attaching the Solar Cells
Now that you have the solar panel housing that you purchased from the hardware store, you can begin to insert the cells. Start by determining the placement of the cells by drawing a grid pattern on the solar panel itself.
You can then put the cells upside down within the grid while soldering them in series as you go. You can then glue the cells into place on the solar panel making sure to glue the cells only in the center of the cell (note: this is important).
Mounting Location
Now that you know how to make solar panels, you might be wondering how and where you can use them to start generating power from the sun.
These panels can be used almost anywhere you see fit. Most often they are placed on top of your home. But others use them on their boat, or in their garden for solar lighting. There is no limit to the options you have for using your panels. You will be thrilled to be able to build something that can be used for so many purposes.
It is easy to give up on your search for finding out how to make solar panels that are both inexpensive and high quality. You can search online for days and never find a legitimate answer to your question.
There is a lot of good information online but it is often buried and extremely hard to find. It is often much easier and time efficient to get a really good online book (ebook) that can save you a lot of time and money in the long run. They often provide you with exceptional detail and step-by-step instruction including video instruction on how to make solar panels.
It is helpful to read reviews on these products to find which ones are the best and will get you the making solar panels the fastest and cheapest. Also make sure that the ebook comes with a money back guarantee so that you can always return it if you are not satisfied.
